Hi there, I'm Phil Haswell

I help trades and home services business owners reclaim time, reduce stress, and grow profits by building Calm Operator systems.

I work with trade and home services business owners who are carrying too much of their company on their own shoulders. My focus is removing the operational pressure that keeps owners stuck in firefighting mode — clarifying decision paths, tightening processes, and building practical operating structure so the business can run smoothly without constant personal intervention.

I bring decades of experience leading complex business improvement projects across government and private organisations into small and mid-sized businesses that rarely have access to that level of operational expertise. I’ve designed and rebuilt systems that support critical services, recovered failing projects, and helped organisations move from manual, fragile operations to stable, repeatable ways of working. I’ve also built and sold my own businesses, so I understand firsthand the pressure of being the person everything depends on.

I grew up around trades and hands-on industries (from cabinet making & joinery to electrical and construction), which shapes how I work today. My approach is practical and grounded, and I respect the competence and experience of the owners I work with. I’m not interested in theory or complexity for its own sake.

My goal is to create clarity, margin, and breathing room — a business that holds together without constant supervision and gives you back time, confidence, and the capacity to operate at the level you know you’re capable of.
